What is COVID-19?

A coronavirus is a virus that causes respiratory infections. COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.

According to The CDC, the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. COVID-19 can be easily spread by people who are asymptomatic — people who don’t feel ill at all. Older people and those with underlying medical problems are more likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.

What can I do?

• Wash your hands: Washing your hands thoroughly for 30 seconds with soap and water helps kill the virus. You may use alcohol-based hand rub as a secondary option.

• Avoid close contact: Stay at least 6 feet away from people who don’t live in your household and avoid lengthy conversations without proper face coverings.

• Wear face coverings.

• Clean and disinfect: Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.

• Monitor your health daily: Be aware and alert of symptoms. Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath or other symptoms of COVID-19.
